Yucky Sickness

My sweet baby turned six months old on Monday. Unfortunately, she spent her six month birthday at the doctor's office being poke and prodded. Her congestion got worse over the weekend, so Colin took her in to see Dr. Smith Monday afternoon. They swabbed her nose and said that it came back positive for RSV (a respiratory virus). They gave her a breathing treatment and then sent her back to the lab for a chest x-ray. Colin said this was very traumatic for him and for Addison. Because of her size, they put her on this contraption and encased her inside this plastic tube to restrict her movement. The tube kept her arms straight up in the air, which was very uncomfortable and frightening to a baby who has no idea what is going on. Colin said she cried and cried and kept looking at him with this desperate, "why aren't you saving me from this?" look. Of course, that just broke poor Daddy's heart. The x-ray showed a small patch of pneumonia. Since her oxygen levels were okay, they decided not to admit her. She was given a shot of Rocephin (again, more tears) and sent home with antibiotics. I stayed home with her yesterday, but since she stays at private daycare where there are no other children...she was able to stay with the baby-sitter today. She's getting a little better, but is not out of the woods yet. Also, please say a prayer for Sarah Sullivan and her newborn daughter, Lilly, who is undergoing some gastro tests. Sarah--I pray that all goes well. We're thinking about y'all.
