Weekend Wrap-Up

Bryce (aka the little frat boy) coming down the slide.

And, here comes Princess Kate!

Amy inside the tunnel on her way to rescue Bryce!

Hey, Mrs. Amy, didn't you read the sign?

Miss Priss inside the tunnel.

Kate saying "hello."

Addison having a grand ole time.

Bryce hiding in the car (where he stayed the entire time).

Mrs. Amy holding Landry.

My mom's van in the aftermath of the storm.

And, the metal carport that slammed into the van.

I think Saturday night's storm caught everyone by surprise. I had no idea that we were in for bad weather. Saturday afternoon, we headed to Target to get a few birthday presents and to finish up Addison's preschool supply list. Afterwards, we had planned to meet some friends at Pizza Hut in Clinton to let the kids play, but ended up going to Chick-Fil-A instead after seeing how packed Pizza Hut was with a birthday party. Addison had a blast playing with Kate and Bryce at Chick-Fil-A. It's so much fun now that she's at an age where she can have playdates with kids her age. Bryce climbed up in one of the cars and wouldn't come down, so Amy had to climb up to get him. Mamas also save the day! Colin got a big a kick out of her climbing through such a small area. After the playdate, we headed home for baths and bed time and cuddled up in the bed to watch a movie after the kids were asleep. Right as we were about to climb into beds ourselves and were doing a final check of the kids, Colin noticed that the wind was really picking up outside. We turned on the news to see what was going on weather wise and were about to climb into bed when the storm really started to heat up outside and we lost power. Great!!! Nothing like sleeping in August with no air conditioning. I'm sad to say that I am just not conditioned to sleeping in the heat. Colin went and got Addison out of the bed since Landry was already in our room. Unfortunately, Addison was wide awake after that and started talking about the thunder and the wind. We had planned on going to church Sunday morning, but we still were without power Sunday morning and exhausted from no sleep. We talked to my parents and they had power, but had suffered some pretty bad storm damage at their house. The wind picked up their metal carport and slammed it into the back of my mom's van and shattered her back windshield. After getting some things together and finding out that our power wasn't scheduled to be restored until Sunday afternoon, we headed to my parent's house to get dressed and to eat lunch. When we came home Sunday afternoon, we finally had power! It was so nice to finally get a good night's sleep last night...and in the air conditioning!

You are right! That storm caught everyone by surprise. We had just come home from Mom and Dad's and gotten the boys all settled when Little Guy came in saying, "I hear thunder." If it is thundering he can hear it a mile away! Sure enough same storm came through here and knocked out our electricity too! I'm with you.... this MS girl does not enjoy the MS heat! Give me my A/C!
